Novel inland waterway transport concepts for moving freight effectively

Upper-Rhine stakeholder session

Sophie-E. Martens of DST – Development Centre for Ship Technology and Transport Systems and prof. Edwin van Hassel of the University of Antwerp did an outstanding job today, presenting the significant NOVIMOVE – smart & sustainable waterways research findings to the Upper Rhine region during a hybrid session kindly hosted by the Schweizerische Rheinhäfen – Port of Switzerland in Basel.

They skillfully condensed 900 man-months of research into just about 2 hours— a remarkable feat indeed, and if anyone can handle such a challenge, it’s them!

The meeting specifically focused on innovative vessel concepts for fluctuating water levels and the impact of cargo consolidations.
Check the presentations below on cargo consolidation and new vessel concepts.
